“God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So, he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come with me”. With tearful eyes we watched you, as you drift away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. They say that memories are golden, well maybe that is true, but we never wanted memories, we only wanted you.”
Thomas Bernard "TB" Brown, 75, was born on June 19, 1949, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Cleodis Brown, Sr., and Ophelia Moss Brown. He was the eldest of their children. He was preceded in death by his parents (1999) and five siblings: Woodrow (infant), Sarah (2013), Cleodis, Jr. (2014), Lloyd (2016), and Mary (2025).
Thomas was raised in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated from Southeast High School in 1967. Following high school, he began working at General Motors. In May 1969, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served as a Communications Specialist during the Vietnam War. After completing his service, he continued in the Army Reserves. He later pursued entrepreneurship, founding Brown Trucking, where he worked tirelessly, hauling asphalt and other materials across Kansas City and its surrounding areas. After many years of hard work and dedication, he retired in 2017.
From an early age, Thomas accepted Christ and was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Isaac H. Henderson. Later, he became a devoted member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as the church van driver and a member of the male choir. His love for his church remained steadfast, and he attended as often as his health allowed.
Thomas was a man of strong convictions who never hesitated to share his thoughts. He was passionate about cars and owned many throughout his lifetime. Most recently, he had purchased a van with plans to enjoy the road once more. He was an avid participant in classic car shows and enjoyed playing dominoes, listening to music, and spending time with his family. His generosity, humor, and positive spirit touched many lives. He was truly the life of the party, with an unforgettable laugh and a smile that could light up a room.
On February 20, 2025, Thomas passed away in Kansas City, Kansas. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted wife, Delois Culclager Brown; his daughter, Bridgette Brown Lee of Georgia; his son, Stephen Brown (Aisha) of Missouri; and his four stepsons: Ramon Hayes (Shemeeca) of South Carolina, London Culclager (Tameka) of Texas, Kenric Collins (Tanisha) of Texas, and Rashad Givhan of Virginia. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, siblings Virginia Moore (Eric) of Virginia, Robert Harris (Hazel) of Arkansas, Willie Brown of Kansas, and Johnny Brown (Karen) of Missouri, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
