Thomas Johnson III was born into the union of
Thomas Johnson Jr. and Barbara Gertrude (Benton) Johnson
on Thursday, October 10, 1963. You were your dad's perfect birthday gift. You quickly and easily became the apple of his eye.
He taught you well how to be a GREAT Dad.
My Goodbye to Thomas...
We're grateful the Lord allowed us to be with you today, Monday, April 6, 2026, not mourning you…but to honor you, to remember you, and to celebrate the life you lived with us.
You were more than family—you were a part of me. You shared my history, my laughter, my memories…and even in moments when life took us in different directions, our bond never broke.
There was something special about you being a son, a brother, a nephew, a cousin, an uncle, a dad, a fiancée, a friend…we didn't have to talk every day to feel connected. The love was just there—steady, unspoken, but real.
You weren't perfect—and neither are we—but you were always real. And you lived in a way that left an imprint on everyone who knew you. We're here today not just feeling grief—we’re feeling the weight of love. Because grief is love…with nowhere to go. But even in this moment, we hold on to what we know to be true…
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
So, while our hearts are heavy, we are not without hope. This is not the end of your story… and it’s not the end of ours with you. Our love for you hasn’t died. Our memories of you haven't faded. And the impact of your life—continues in each of us.
As we say "Goodbye" to you for the final time on this side of Heaven…we also say, "Thank YOU!"
Thank you for all the laughs, the hard laughs, that made our faces hurt and our bellies ache.
Thank you for the lessons, even the ones from your death, that has reminded us, "that you live every day, but you only die once", and we all must properly prepare and be ready for the day that God calls us home.
Thank you for ALL the moments—the big ones and the small ones—that made you who you were to us.
You will always be our Mother's Son, Jocelyn's and My Brother, Robin's phenomenal Fiancée, the bestie Uncle, the good Nephew, the Set-It-Off Cousin, Tome's Wonderful Father, and the Best Friend... That will never, ever change.
With faith and with love Lord, we commend my brother’s spirit into Your hands. Receive him into Your eternal presence.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Rest well Thomas…I can't wait to see you again in Heaven.
I Love YOU Forever.
Ann
