Thomas “PEEWEE” Martin entered eternal peace on Monday, December 26, 2022, in ICU at KU Medical Center. We will miss him; we know that he is in a much better place. We will forever cherish his precious time with us.
Thomas was born February 8, 1959, in Kansas City, MO. He was the 13th of 15 children born to Marshall and Perlie Lee Martin. He grew up in Kansas City, MO. He was baptized at an early age and believed in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Thomas was educated in the Kansas City, Mo School district, last attending Westport High School. He later married Delgene Martin in Kansas City MO. He was stepfather to Mona Turner (Vaughn), Sergeant Major Welesy Turner (Heather), Raphael Murphy (Ebony) and Donte Murphy.
Thomas will always be remembered as a fun-loving husband, baby brother, Uncle Peewee, father, and friend with a true servant’s heart. Some of his favorite hobbies were two-stepping (he put the “two” into two stepping); everyone looked forward to his cookouts because he loved to cook; he was a devoted CHIEFS FAN and fan of all sports. He loved talking and watching sports with his sister Deborah, friends, and other family members. Although his sister Erma “Jean” as he liked to call her didn’t care for sports but loved talking, cooking, and laughing with him. Thomas loved his dog Mercedes and cat Spark Plug (she was found underneath the hood of a car.)
Thomas was preceded in death by his grandparents; both parents, Marshall & Pearlie Martin; son, Lamonte George; brothers, Tyrone Martin, Johnny Martin, Sammy Martin, and Bruce Martin; and sisters, Mary Martin, Beatrice Martin Smith, Ida Mae Martin, Nellie B. Martin Richardson, Annie Martin Pittman, Faye Martin, and Kaye Martin.
Thomas leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Delgene Martin; his children, Perlie George, Tyrone George, and Kimberly Monk (Ronald); stepchildren, Mona Turner (Vaughn), Sergeant Major Welesy Turner (Heather), Raphael Murphy (Ebony), and Donte Murphy; sisters, Deborah Martin Washington, Sandra Martin Woods (Ronald), and Erma Jean Martin; 2 grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and friends.
To my family & friends: I have had a good life. I fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept faith. Don’t cry as if there is no hope, be happy for me. Remember, “You only have one life... live every day as if it is your last. Leave the past in the past. I will see you again someday.”
