Thomas J. Mays Jr, 73, passed away on June 20, 2018 at his home in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on March 9, 1945 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Thomas Jacob Mays Sr. and Christine Nelson. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. Thomas graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Mo. He began work for Great Plains Furniture as a furniture carpenter making furniture. He was employed there for many years until he began his career at Goodyear Tire Company as a Truck Driver, retiring after many years of over the road driving. Thomas was involved in coaching little league baseball and was a member of a CB club where he was known as "Mighty Moose" and "Mr. 998". He was an avid Fisherman and enjoyed going to the all the lakes. Thomas also served as Chairman of the Deacon Board at Good Hope Baptist Church, where he was a devoted member for over 25 years.

Thomas married Marinette Whitebear on March 30th in Kansas City, Mo and have been together for over 50 years. To this union, they have five children.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father: Thomas and Christine Mays. His daughter: Regina Rene' Mays. His siblings: John L. Berryman; Mildred Williams; Enora Jackson; Carolyn Mays; and Leroy Berryman. Also, his great-grandson, Braidyn Chrishun Garrett.

Thomas leaves to cherish his wife of 50 years, Marinette Mays. His children: Ruby E. Watts (Shawn); Tina L. Shropshire (Chris); Thomas LaRue' Mays; Tiffany Denee' Washington (Monterio). His sister, Sharon "Lou-de" Canady (Kansas City, Mo); Robert Mays (Evelyn), Earl Mays (Mary) of Eldorado, KS.; Keith Mays (Jan) of Adrian, Mo. Eleven Grandchildren: Terry Wayne Jr. (Nichole); Ta'Neika Lashereese; Reniesha Rene; Tamara LaSha'; Sierra LeChalet' (Nick); Tatiana Dane'e (Dallas, TX); Ari'yan Christina; Reginald Dontae'; Krishay Angelina; Micah Tyrell. Three Great-Grandsons: Terrynce and Tyrre Broom; Diezel Jackson. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
