Thomas E. Sims transitioned on March 25, 2019 at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on September 28, 1948 in Monroe, Arkansas to Elbert Thomas Sims, and Dorthy Mae Kirskey. He grew up in Springfield, Illinois, and attended Feitshans High School. He later moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he met and married his beautiful wife; Clifton L. Sims. They were happily married for 53 years.

Thomas loved cooking and enjoyed his family. He seemed to be tough on the inside but had a heart of gold. He loved spoiling his grandchildren, and sending them home, except for De’sire. She always stayed by his side. He adopted so many other children over the years, and they also called him “Dad” as well

Thomas was preceded into death by his parents; Elbert Thomas Sims, and Dorthy Mae Kirskey, one sister; Pearlie Mae Sims, and one brother; Elias Sims.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years; Clifton Sims, five children; Maurice Muhammad (Paula Muhammad), Zandra Bahyadeen(Murad Bahyadeen), Cassandra Gipson, Edwin Gipson, Demone’ Gipson Thomas, and he was blessed with 7 grandchildren; Trevor Gipson, Troy Hughes Jr., DaiShaun Gaw, Dreauna Gant, Murad Bahyadeen, Fahim Bahyadeen, De’sire McCutchen, and four great grandchildren.
