Mr. Tremel Jaron Gilliam Jr., lovingly known as “Potto”, went home to be with the Lord, February 21, 2021, 9:22 a.m., at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Tremel Jaron Gilliam Jr., was born 5 pounds 5 ounces, and 19 inches, in Kansas City Missouri, at North Kansas City Hospital, on August 12th, 2009 at 4:39 p.m., to Mr. Tremel Jaron Gilliam Sr. and Ms. Simone Laquise Kirkwood.

Tremel Jr., attended Freda Markley in Kansas City Missouri throughout his pre-K and kindergarten years. Tremel then moved to the Lee’s Summit school district, attending Sunset Valley Elementary, in medically fragile classes, where he excelled. Among Potto’s many accomplishments, he received trophies from the “Exceptionals”, two years (2018-2019) straight for his baseball talents. “Potto”, received the Character Trait Award on February 24th, 2017.He  received a citizenship award for his outstanding citizenship on the school bus. And, Potto attended the Law Enforcement Torch Run Special Olympics 2016, 2017, and 2018 with his parents as his partners.

Tremel Jr. traveled constantly. He traversed to many cities. He experienced Morgan’s Wonderland in Texas, Special Needs Park, in 2018.  He visited the Omaha Zoo, the Kansas City Aquarium (where mom and auntie chaperoned his class), and Branson (Riding The Duck), twice for his birthday excursions. He visited the Pumpkin patch, annually with Freda Markley.

“Potto” regularly enjoyed events, especially Halloween.  His costumes include: a doctor, Yoda from Star Wars, Run of Run DMC, and Donatello, of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. During his downtime, he enjoyed riding around the city and listening to music.  Tremel Jr., loved music so much, he attended the Chris Brown Concert in 2015, traveling by Limousine.

He is survived by his father, Mr. Tremel Jaron Gilliam Sr., mother, Ms. Simone Laquise Kirkwood, two siblings, Hayden Gilliam, and Mila Gilliam (Chloe Singleton), aunt, Carmilla Wilson-Woods (Leon) aunt Kiera Gilliam, uncle, Charles Wilson (LaTanya), uncle, Romel Wilson, uncle James Gilliam (Lakisha), uncle Jalen Gilliam, and uncle, Kendril Kirkwood His Paternal Grandparents James Earl Gilliam (Chrishawn), Alyce Hannett, Paternal Great-Grandparents Mrs. Napolean and Mary Thomas, and Maternal Grandparents Charles and Patricia Kirkwood. Maternal Great Grandmother Shirley Kirkwood.

Potto gave us a lifetime of love during his short time on earth, bringing joy and happiness to everyone he touched.  His special relationships extend to several, including his teachers Mrs.  Kay Rader and Ms. Sarah (Sunset Valley Elementary), his cousin: Monique Hall, and his Godmother Amber Lee (Princeton).

Tremel Jr. follows, Paternal Great-Grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Buster and Elizabeth Reed, Mr. and Maternal Great-Grandparents Mr. Charles Major Kirkwood, Sr, Mr. Richard Wilson, and Mrs. Bobbi Bradley, to his heavenly palace.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
