Twyler M. Rogers, 73, was born in Cedartown, GA to the late Eddie B. Miller, Sr., and Ora Bell Miller. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John E. Rogers; her daughter, Desireé L. Miller; and two sisters, Myrtice A. Anderson, and Gail Howell.
Twyler graduated from Paseo High School in 1966 in Kansas City, MO. She was employed with Western Electric for 22 ½ years where she went on to get an associate degree in Business from Penn Valley Community College. She later worked for UPS where she decided to leave to go home and take care of her grandkids. Once her grandchildren were older, she decided to work at Scientific Laboratory and retired. She later found love in working for First Student as a crossing guard and later a bus monitor.
Twyler accepted Christ at a young age, and nobody could tell her that God didn’t love her and how much she loved the Lord. She was a faithful member of Pentecostal Church of God in Christ for 50 years. She attended any church whose doors were open from Sunday school at Westminster Baptist Church, Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ, Memorial Church International, Second Missionary Baptist Church, and a host of others. She later rededicated her life to the Lord by baptism in 2016.
Twyler was married to John E. Rogers in the late 1980s and of that union he adopted her youngest daughter as her own.
Twyler loved to help others in any way she could. She would volunteer wherever she could to back to school events, homeless outreach, and funerals. Twyler was a master chef in her own with her delicious dinner and cinnamon rolls that fed, housed, and loaned money to many.
Her favorite pastime was going to Harvester’s where she gained a host of other relationships and friends from different churches and organizations. She loved passing out food to anyone and everyone in the community. If it was anything you needed from food, a ride, or her last dime, she was willing. Twyler was a true beacon of light to anyone she met with an infectious laugh and smile. To know her was to love her, she was a true child of God. Her presence will most certainly be missed. She was the true definition of her name, perseverance. She had unconditional love for her mother, daughter, grandchildren, and family.
Twyler leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Ora Bell Miller; her brother, Eddie B. Miller, Jr.; her daughter, Datasha M. Gates of Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren, Christopher Miller (Mary), Stephen Miller, Jonathan Kitchen (Mya), Kiani Kitchen, Jaylin Kitchen, and Darion Kitchen; her great-grandchildren, especially Emerson Grey Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and special friends.
