He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, and was employed with USG as an engineer for 3 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Delouise Sims, and brother, William Bates.
Tyrone is survived by his daughter, Tiauna Bates; granddaughters: Winter Ann Bates-Brough and Audrey Bates; and a host of other relatives and friends.
