Vera Kimble

Vera Purnell-Kimble, 65, was born on December 27, 1955, in Carroll County, Mississippi to her mother Lena Mae Purnell, and her father Ventrola Purnell who was waiting to welcome her home. Vera Kimble was a native of Kansas City, Missouri she obtained her education from the Kansas City, Missouri School District before continuing her education at University of Missouri Kansas City, and Penn Valley College.

Vera was employed by The Kansas City Missouri Board of Education in Accounting she worked with the Cost Allocations Division, Vera was also employed by the Internal Revenue Service she worked in Accounting with the Document Perfection Branch. While working at IRS in the day Vera attend Paris Beauty College in the evening after finishing Paris Beauty College Vera open her own Beauty & Nail Salon.

Having an Entrepreneur spirit and wanting to help others gain employment Vera started two Restaurants and a Catering business Vera’s Restaurant & Vera’s Southern Style Cooking, and later Vera opened a Sign Company, Central Art & Signs. There Vera and her employees made beautiful Signs, Banners and Artwork for Businesses, Restaurants, Schools, Churches etc.

After working as an Entrepreneur for many years God touched Vera heart to leave Liberty, Missouri where she was living and move back into the enter city of Kansas City, MO where she was raised as a girl and start a Ministry that will help other women and their children, GOD & Me Ministries. Vera purchased two houses that were once drug houses, sore eyes for the community and totally refurbish them making the houses a clean Safe Haven for women and their children to live so that they can make a new start, GOD & Me Ministries help women with housing, life skills, job training, and employment; helping them with the resources that are needed to find and keep the things that are needed to be successful, like a clean safe place to live, food & water,  and restore their self-esteem. GOD & Me Ministries works with the total person on the outside and on the inside helping them to be the strong confident women that GOD created them to be. GOD & Me Ministries has community gardens and an orchard, where she taught women the importance of good organic nutrition, and taught them how to grow, prepare and cook the food that they eat.

At a young age, while juggling earning an education and a budding career, Vera started a family. First, she found love with her husband George William Kimble IV of 22 years, and a lifetime of friendship. To their union, they added three children, Billie Latrice Kimble, Bill Kimble V, and Loukisha Kimble Logan (Desmound) all of Kansas City who miss their mother dearly. Also left to cherish Vera’s memory is her mother Lena; her siblings Ven Edward, Delores, Vandell, and Michael; her very special grandchildren, Carlas Mosby, Aireona Burnett, Tyanna Russel, Gerryn Dudley, Torrion Betts, Arzhaun Avery, Faith Avery, Deion Logan, Bill Kimble VI, Bailey Kimble, and DeVion Logan; her great-grandchildren, her closest friends Teresa Pugh Taylor, Barbara Woodson, Berla McCoy Johnson, Barbara Lora, Raydell Wynn, Kathy Echols plus a host of family, classmates, and friends.

Vera will always be remembered for her infectious laughter, her sense of style, and most importantly the way she lit up a room for family and friends.
