Vernell Littlejohn Sr.

Vernell Littlejohn passed away at the age of 58 on July 6, 2023, in Kansas City, MO. Vernell was born June 12, 1965, to Kathyleen Mashburn and Clinton Littlejohn in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Van Horn High School in 1983. He worked for GM, Folgers Coffee, and P&G while also running his own construction and remodeling company “Commercial Home Design, LLC”, specializing in commercial and home improvement. Vernell was a Plant PLC/Electrical Technician for Upfield Sourcing until his untimely death.

Vernell married the love of his Life LaTanya Littlejohn on April 19, 2019. Their love story began with ‘‘What’s up” and a shared love for “My Pillow”. Vernell welcomed his two sons Vernell Littlejohn Jr. and London Littlejohn from a previous marriage. He was a man of character and wisdom. Vernell also had a love for photography capturing many precious moments. He accepted Christ as His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age and was a great teacher making every moment a teachable one. He was a man of God, devoted husband, father, protector, provider, a man of great humor. Whenever he walked in a room laughter would soon follow.

Preceding him in death are his father, Clinton Littlejohn, grandparents William D. Foster, Vera Moore, Andrew & Charlene Littlejohn and sister, Nykia Littlejohn.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife LaTanya Littlejohn; children Vernell Littlejohn Jr., and London Littlejohn; stepchildren, Tanasha Wilson and De’Andre Wilson; mother Kathyleen Mashburn; stepfather Francis Mashburn Jr.; grandchildren, Nyla Dean, Nakel Dean, Knile Wilson, Kanan Wilson, Pierce Wilson; brother, Nathaniel (Marla) Littlejohn; stepbrothers, Greg (Liz) Mashburn, Jeff Mashburn; stepsisters, Gina Marriott, Lacrisha Constant and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends.

Vernell will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was an inspiration to many and will be greatly missed.
