Vernetta Joyce Daniels was born January 28, 1944, to Alice Harriet Jackson and Joseph Edward Daniels in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Both parents, a brother, Joseph H. Johnson, a sister, Magda Lu Daniels and a grandson, Andrew Puckett, all preceded her in death. Vernetta married James T. Puckett on June 9, 1962, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Vernetta enrolled at Truman Medical School of Nursing in 1966. She ranked number one in her class of 20 students, finishing with a 97% rating. Her mother Alice was her major advocate, encouraging her to attend school daily. She performed well, earning her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Upon graduation she worked at Truman Medical Center. Vernetta also worked at Baptist Hospital, Menorah Medical Center and Swope Ridge Nursing Home. Vernetta cherished her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her world revolved around them. She also had a great love for animals. Vernetta leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Myllette Puckett (Atlanta, GA), Amy Puckett of the city, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one brother Kevin Johnson of the city, one sister Wendy Moore (McKin Moore) of Blue Springs, Mo., three nieces, one nephew and one great nephew. She also leaves two long-time friends, James Clinton and Maria Fernandez-Zalava and a special friend Richard Hillmon.
