Victor Lee Wynn, Sr., was born in Kansas City, MO to the union of Joyce Marie Wynn & George Ingle Wynn on January 13, 1962. Victor accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 21. Victor departed this life on October 23, 2021.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents, George & Joyce Wynn; his maternal grandparents, Alonzo Sr. & Beatrice Watkins; two brothers, George Wynn, Jr., & Alonzo Wynn; his uncles, Alonzo, Jr., Milton, and Virgil; aunts, Janice, Myrtle, Gwendolyn, and Jackie.
Victor married Carlita Thomas in 1984, and to this union four children were born, Deasha, Victor Jr., Jamal, and Brittany; and one adopted daughter, Asia Ashford.
On December 31, 2006, he married Carrie Danztler, and there were no children born to this union.
Victor received his education in the Kansas City Public Schools. He worked at the Vista (Marriott) Hotel as a Pastry Chef and several other places as a Pastry Chef. He worked in the JOY Program, JE Dunn Construction, Hereford House Restaurant, a janitorial service, and a host of other agencies. He worked for the City of Kansas City in the Parks and Recreation Department from 1999 to 2014. He also did Victory In Christ Cakes from the home.
Victor Sr. was the founder and executive director of Victory In Christ Home Ownership Program Endeavors (VIC-HOPE) and a life-long resident of Kansas City, MO. He had a special passion for his endeavors to ensure homeownership for residents of the inner city. He found himself homeless several years ago, with minimal opportunities to overcome his misfortune. He was working, but housing was too expensive, and he had no place for his children to visit, but he never gave up hope and persevered. In 2010 we purchased our first “Tax House” to help his daughter, thus embarking on a career of rehabbing homes. Occupants lived in the homes rent free for six months to a year to renovate the homes while at the same time paying their own utilities thereby giving them some responsibilities. We assisted two families with becoming homeowners.
Victor loved the inner city. He grew up in a beautiful, safe neighborhood and wanted to see all those areas thrive again. He lived in the neighborhood he grew up in and was poised to take on the challenge of rehabbing homes in his neighborhood as well as other targeted neighborhoods.
His vision and the city’s vision were the same: create homeownership in the inner city. No more boarded-up eyesores destracting from the neighborhood. People would live in a city that was safe, attractive and that had affordable housing. He wanted to revive the neighborhood, revive the city, and revive the economy.
Victor was full of life and loved his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and friends. It made him extra happy when the grandchildren visited. He loved to give advice and study the Word daily. Victor Sr. spent hours talking with Victor Jr., that seemed like the highlight of his day. He was always excited about Jr. coming to listen to him talk, “for hours a day.” I would go to sleep with him talking with Victor Jr. Victor met no strangers. He became a member of the C.A.R.E. BETTER HEALTH, INC., where he would bike ride with the group. He and Carrie rode down to Gregg Center.
Victor leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Carrie; two sons, Victor Jr. (Taylor), and Jamal (Brittany); three daughters, Deasha, Brittany, and Asia (all of Kansas City, MO); six grandchildren, Carter, Isaac, Carson, Dakota, Solomon and (one unborn); brother, Edward L.
