Wade Douglas

Wade was born on March 23, 1956 as the second child to the union of Mack C. Douglas and Lizzie “Lillie Bell” Ware in Shreveport, LA. The family resided in Shreveport until 1964 when they relocated to Kansas City, MO.

As a teenager in Kansas City, Wade attended Central High School where he met Diana Hobby, the lady that he would choose to marry and start a family.  To support his family, Wade worked various jobs such as a forklift driver and a supervisor of work crews. However, he worked as railroad employee for several years until he retired to part-time employment.

Wade accepted Christ early on in life and was proud to tell others about the Bible and preaching of Jesus Christ. His favorite song was “I’m just a nobody” by the Williams Brothers. He led a very active life with hobbies that included attending church services, spending time caring for his children and grandchildren, grilling for his family, playing cards and dominoes, repairing cars, horseback riding, watching the latest science fiction movie, and traveling with his wife, Diane.

Wade departed this life on August 16, 2019. He was preceded in death by both parents, Mack and Lizzie, a grandson, Ta’Shawn Thompson, and two little brothers, Jack Douglas and Louis Douglas. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Diane, three children, Tashonna Douglas-Griffith (Dale), Marquita Douglas, and Wade Douglas (Shawnta), seven grandchildren, Na’Keezia Murff, Ky’esha Peoples, Selah Thompson, Shylah Thompson, Wade Douglas, III, Allyssia Douglas, Taleah White, and Tremon Douglas, two great grandchildren, Brooke and Wade IV, and thirteen siblings, Jimmie (Karen) Douglas, Willie Mae Douglas, Mack C. Douglas, Jr., Jacqueline Smith, Michael Smith, Sr. (Darla), Roy Douglas, Annette Walters, Janice Smith, Evangel Douglas, Izetta Douglas, Alberta Smith, LaVonda Douglas, and Varnum Douglas. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends to mourn his passing.
