Listen to Obituary

Wendell A. Hopkins was born July 2, 1965, in Kansas City, MO.  His parents were Cornelius Ray Hopkins and Louise Elizabeth Hopkins who precedes him in death. Preceding him in death are Benjamin Wally Jackson, Jack LaRue Jackson, Melvin Lee Jackson, and Donald Lewis Hopkins.

Wendell was the youngest of nine children, six brothers and two sisters. He was educated in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Northeast High School. He immediately joined the United States Navy and served for 20 years till he reached retirement.  He traveled the world and fought in the Desert Storm War. His most memorable time in the Navy was when he lived in Japan. He received several accolades & honors while serving in the US Navy.

Wendell loved, cherished, and carried the name HOPKINS very well. He would let anyone, and everyone know, "that HE is Cornelius Ray's son and don't nobody mess with a Hopkins".

Wendell married at a young age to Kimberly Stuckey, and they raised their four children Joseph, Bryan, Andrea, and Jordan. He was later divorced.

Wendell held various jobs throughout the KC area.  He was employed by BI Incorporated, Ticket Solutions and proud Co-owner of the Car Wash.

Some of his greatest joys were  food, fun, family, laughter, dancing, music, grill master, holidays, helping others, and being your go to man for everything. Most of all spending each day with his four fur babies. (Charlene, Logan, Daisy and Bear) whom he loved more than life itself. He loved his collectables such as comic books, baseball cards and very rare coins.

Wendell was so loved by everyone he knew and even if you just met him, you would have loved him as if you knew him all your life.

He leaves to mourn: Larry Ray Hopkins, Patricia Runee' Hopkins, Robert James Hopkins and Pamela Faye Hopkins.  A great host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nephew and so many cousins.
