William Earcel Calhoun, Sr.

William Earcel Calhoun, Sr., 89, passed away on August 28, 2018 at Truman Medical Center, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born June 4, 1929 in Many, Louisiana to Alvoid Calhoun and Lillian Ligon Calhoun.

William accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at St. Paul Baptist Church.

William married MaryJo Calhoun on May 5, 1949. They were happily married for 55 years.

William worked for Independence Foundry as a Molder and was a very hard worker, he even worked after his retirement. He was a strong man that provided for his wife and children making sure they were well taken care of and never wanted for anything. He showed his children loved and taught lessons that would help them to become responsible adults. He loved to have guy time with his sons, and spoil his princess with a lot of love. He loved sports and was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan.

William was a Man of Honor. He never met a stranger, he would do anything to help anyone in need. The community and neighborhood loved him and watched out for him, he was known as Mr. C., he will be sadly missed.

William was preceded into death by his parents; Alvoid Calhoun and Lillian Ligon Calhoun, son; George Calhoun, and brother; Ora Calhoun.

William is survived by 3 children; William Calhoun, Jr., Melvin Calhoun, Frances Jackson (John), one sister; Alice Kanzetta Robinson, 18 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
