Rev. William Bernard Denton was born November 27, 1950, to the proud parents of Loyal C. Denton, Sr., and Norma Hillman Denton. He was the youngest child of the three boys. His brother, Herbert, preceded him in death. Rev. Denton attended school in the Kansas City, MO Public Schools and graduated in 1969 from Central High School, Kansas City MO. He was drafted into the military in 1970 and sent to Vietnam. He served six years in the United States Army and was honorably discharged, May 10, 1976. Rev. Denton was married to Janette Denton and to that union, he was the proud father of two daughters, Anika, and Anjanette. He loved his daughters to death. After his Vietnam Era and arriving back to Kansas City, he became employed with the Union Pacific Railroad and worked in various capacities. After moving on to other employment, he worked for Cell Net and National Starch and Chemical until he later retired.
Rev. Denton joined Ward Chapel AME Church in June of 1993. He served as the Pastor’s Steward until he received his calling in ministry. He was ordained an Itinerant Deacon into the ministry in July of 1994 in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. He pastored in Butler, MO and Salisbury, MO for a few years. He met the love of his life at Ward Chapel AME Church and became engaged to Kimberly Miller. They were married on July 12, 1997. Rev. Denton later, transitioned from AME denomination to the Baptist faith and has served as an Associate Minister. Rev. Denton had a love for preaching and teaching God’s word. His illness began March 31, 2018. He had suffered many setbacks that caused him to go back and forth to the hospital, however, his health began to decline increasingly after being diagnosed with throat cancer in October 2020. Rev. Denton never gave up his course throughout all the disabilities he encountered. He continued to keep the faith and God continued to bless him through it all, until his final day of living, October 18, 2022. He leaves to mourn his passing, his devoted and loving wife, Kimberly, of 25 years of marriage and commitment; his daughters, Anika Denton Culichi (Adrian), Temple City, CA, and Anjanette Denton Fitoussi (Oliver); his oldest brother, Loyal C. Denton, Jr. (Pamela) of Kansas City, MO; his four grandchildren, Chiana, Ilia, Alton, and Faith; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Robinson, of Independence, MO; his loving and devoted caregivers, Johanna, Andrea, Rhonda, Charlotte, and Rodric; and a plethora of family and friends that loved him dearly. Rest in Peace, baby, you are free!!!
