William Henderson

William “Bill” Henry Henderson III William “Bill” Henry Henderson III, 72, passed away on January 8, 2019 in Kansas City. A lifelong resident of Kansas City, he was born on December 22, 1946, just before Christmas—his favorite time of the year. He was first up to examine what Santa left under the tree. He loved his toys and games. He was the fifth child of William and Margaret Henderson. He grew up loving sports playing anything with a ball. As a child he always loved to be the center of attention no matter whose birthday party was being celebrated.

He had fun attending Booker T. Washington Elementary School, Lincoln Jr. High School and Lincoln Sr. High School. He excelled in math and could solve problems in the new math without any difficulty. He attended Central Missouri State University where he was very good in personal finance. Later, he took junior college courses that enabled him to create a computer system for grocery stores. He established a business and sold his software to many stores.

During this time he married and his first son, William Henry the IV, and daughter Erica Lynn were born to Bill and his first wife Carole. Later he remarried and from that union Grant William, 20, Jordan Eugene, 16, and Gabriella Margaret, 14, were born.

He had many friends and associates while in high school and in business as well as playing and coaching AAU Basketball including Willie “Sparkle” Stewart, Ray “Moon” Morris, Milton Bradley and Coleman Russ. He leaves behind a sister, Paula Gipson and a brother Lucian Henderson. He was preceded in death by his first son, William Henry IV (during infancy); siblings Barbara Hamm, Robert Henderson and Karen McDonald. He also leaves behind two grandchildren Dante and Hunter and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 1:00pm, preceded by a viewing from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Location: Serenity Funeral Home, 1101 E. Bannister Road, Kansas City, MO.
