William Allen, Jr.

William Allen, Jr. departed this life on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at the Swope Ridge Geriatric Center, Kansas City, MO. He was born in Sunflower MS on December 12, 1924 and has lived in Kansas City for the majority of his adult life. William was the second of thirteen children born to the union of William, Sr and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Allen. His parents, wife, Gladys Allen, three brothers, Thomas William, John Henry Sr. and Paul; four sisters, Teresa Tibbs, Asalee Hunter, Inez Arthur and Edna Newsome and a longtime friend and companion, Thelma Robison all preceded him in death.

William was a World War II veteran and served in the United States Army proudly. William was employed for Grant Renne Construction Company before he retired many years ago. He enjoyed working in his garden and growing flowers before his health began failing him and was forced to go to the nursing home.

William was a very comical person, he could keep you laughing for hours; cracking jokes and telling stories. He will be sorely missed by his family and those who knew him.

Leaving to cherish his memory are three sons: Gerald Allen (Pelli), Cerritos, CA, Vernell Allen (Cheryl) Aurora, CO, William Allen Ill, Florissant , MO; five daughters, Gloristine Sanders, Evansville, II, Earnestine McRath (Bobby), Florissant, Glinder Davis (Robert) Florissant, Rose Johnson (Carl) Edwardsville, IL and Debora! Allen, Moorehead, MS; one brother, Sam Allen Sr (Debra), Raymore, MO; four sisters, Martha Carr, Erie, PA, Debra Young, Venice, IL, Sarah Fry and Inell Davis of Kansas City, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
