William G Roseberry, 85 of Kansas City Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday 11/21/23 at St Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by family and friends.
William was born to Robert L Roseberry Sr and Muriel Roseberry (Dixon) on 2/13/38. He was educated in Plattsburg Missouri and was an active member in his community. He loved his hometown and spoke of it often. Due to the accidental death of his father, William began working at an early age to pick up the slack of his father's absence; thusly, developing a strong work ethic.
He later met Gloria Cooper who resided in St Joseph, Missouri, they married and had three children before divorcing some years later. They eventually moved to Kansas City Missouri where William worked in the transportation field but ultimately could not deny his inherent talent for carpentry and construction, both commercial and residential, working for some of the top contractors in the city. The construction guys used to tease him about his hands being so manicured and soft looking despite the roughness of the work. He'd often take the neighborhood boys on the job sites to teach them what he knew and as a result a lot of those young men grew up and now practice the same skill. And the women too as I am one of those people.
Besides his love for his profession, he was an avid hunter, fisherman and dog lover. Bill could frequently be found on the fishing banks catching Crappie, Bass, Catfish and Bluegill or in the woods hunting for rabbit, squirrel and coon. He liked to fire up the grill and was well known for his potato salad.
Bill was a man of many facets. He was many things to many people. He was a father figure to some, a mentor to others and a caring friend. He was called Father, Papa, Grandpa Bill and brother Billy.
(Between you and me he was probably called a lot of other things as well) it's okay to laugh we're all thinking it. He had a comedic side as well; even in his declining health he never lost his sense of humor. Some of the nurses even thought that he was flirting with them, and he probably was. He'll be missed by us all.
Father, I'll be alright. After all, I am my father’s daughter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert L Roseberry Sr and Muriel Roseberry (Dixon); his older brother, Robert L. Roseberry, Jr; younger sister, Bonna Roseberry; grandsons, Victor Roseberry, Jr, and Monrico Roseberry, and longtime love, Lela J. Williams (Bettis).
He is survived by his children, Jannette Roseberry, Victor Roseberry, Sr., Christopher Roseberry, Apostle Gina S. Houston, LaTonya L. Lewis, Rev. Billy Gene Hupp, Sr., and bonus son, Howard Bettis; his eldest sister, Donna Roseberry; granddaughters, Gabrielle Roseberry-Chisolm, Brittany Burton, Victoria Roseberry, in addition to many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members that include the Bettis and Shaw families.
