William Edward Hanks Sr. was born on September 6, 1927, to Judy Mae Jackson and Eddie Hanks in Indian Bay, Arkansas. William was educated in the school system of Marvell, Arkansas, where he earned his high school diploma. After graduating he was drafted into the Korean War. While serving in the army he earned his certificate in mechanics. After being honorably discharged , he returned home where he was employed as a mechanic at Lambert Auto Shop located in Holly Grove, Arkansas. After departing from Lambert Auto Shop, his passions for farming, repairing cars and lawnmowers led him to become self-employed.
In March of 1960, William married Mattie Lee Goodrich in Holly Grove, where they remained married for 42 years until her passing in August of 2002. William was known and loved by many especially, his children and grandchildren. He departed this life on July 14, 2021. He was preceded in death by wife: Mattie Lee Hanks, Mother: Judy Mae Jackson, Father: Eddie Hanks, Twin brothers: Joe Bob and Bob Joe Wiley, two daughters: Deadra Hanks and Vicki Vanessa Hanks, 2 great grandsons: Sir Jeremiah Raphael Smith and Desmond Deante Standifer Jr.
He leaves his children: William Edward Hanks Jr. of Mississippi, Thearchy Hanks of Portiage, MI, Terry Sins (Anna) of St. Louis, MO, Theotis Hanks of Southfield, MI, Verna lowe Guido(Edward) of Overland Park, KS, Mary Parks of Little Rock, AR, Janice Stewart(Venser) of Lubbock TX, Patricia Douglas Ward(Victor) of Torrance, CA, Dianne Knox of Holly Grove, AR, Linda Kay Glass(Ulysses) of Columbus, OH, Tracey Hanks(Felicia) of Kansas City, MO, Christopher Hanks(Mary) of Holly Grove, AR, London Santos(Eduardo) of Killeen TX, Danny Hanks, Leslie Hanks, Donta Hanks, Davaney Hanks, Julisha Hanks of Kansas MO, 2 sisters- in-law, Zenobia Goodrich Martin of Victorville, CA, Clara Mae Wiley of Pine Bluff, AR, 2 brother’s in-law, Lee Autry of Memphis, TN and Roy Goodrich of Kansas City, MO, 54 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins to cherish his memory.
