William James Tyson, Sr., better known as Blackie, Steel Bill, Top Cat, Timberfoot, Bobcat and Deacon to his family and friends. William was born to the union of Elaska Tyson and Essie Mae Waites on_ November 8, 1937, Bivins, Texas. Blackie decided to leave Texas to move to Detroit, he stopped to visit family and friends in Kansas City, Missouri he never left. Blackie moved to Liberty, Missouri in 1954, started working for O'Donnell Brothers Asphalt and Construction Company. In 1960 Blackie decided he had enough and formed Tyson Brothers Construction Company. Blackie has been in the Construction Business for over 50 years. Blackie worked until his health started failing June 2018. He enjoyed his Blue Pickup Truck, he would ride around Kansas City and surrounding area inspecting projects done by others (son, nephews and brothers). If he spotted any imperfections he would immediately let you know. William was a self-taught Cement Finisher, Bobcat Operator, Builder and Electrician. He loved travelling to his Hometown of Bivins, Texas

(Hootsville) renamed by his Siblings in honor of their father whose nickname was Hoot. He would travel to Bivins, Texas to relax in the home he and his brother Jene built. As his daughter, Mata, would say 11boy when he picked up his guitar he would play Joe Simon, Drowning in the Sea of Love, over and over and over. 11 Then he would start his silly dance by dancing on one knee.
