Willie Brown Jr, 67, passed away on July 2,2023 at home, in Grandview, Mo. He was born on May 17, 1956 in Kansas City, Mo to Pastor Willie Brown Sr and Gladys ( Johnney ) Brown. He grew up in Kansas City, Mo. He graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Mo. After high school he attended The University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo where he received a bachelor and masters in science in business administration. Joined the U.S Navy in 1979 and served for 10 years. During his time service he was the recipient of Navy achievement medal. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He worked for many companies and Michiana College, Finance Manager, Financial Analyst, and comptroller. He worked for 40 years. He was involved in many church activities serving as Sabbath school superintendent, A.Y Leader, Deacon, Choir Member, Assisting with Pathfinders. He married Betty McHenry on June 4, 1978, in Kansas City, Mo. They were happily married for 45 years.
He was preceded into death by Parents; Pastor Willie Brown Sr, and Gladys ( Johnney ) Brown; Son. Jared Brown; Brothers, James, and Albert Brown; Sisters, Phillis Webb, Maggie Brown-Tramble, and Teresa McClendon.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Betty Brown; two sons, Willie and Timothy Brown ( Emily ); one daughter, Bonnie Brown; baby sister, Toni Brown; three granddaughters; Catherine and Hannah Brown, And Amani Ntonjira; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
A memorial services will be held at Bethel S.D.A Church 6910 Riverview Ave, Kansas City, KS on July 13, 2023 at 11am. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to everyone who has shown love, compassion, kindness, and support through comforting messages, prayers and every act of kindness during this time of grief. May god, the comforter of us all richly bless each one of you.
