Willie Sims, Jr. was born June 16, 1930 in Palestine, Arkansas to Willie Sims and Lucinda Dade. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Lawrence Dade and Billy Pettus, sisters; Verna Lee Sanders, Ester Sims, and Ola Mae Thomas, granddaughter JaVon Littlejohn, and daughter Phyllis Sims.
Willie attended school in Arkansas before joining the armed forces serving 2 years in the United States Army. Willie worked for the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority for 29 years, never missing a day. At the ATA he worked as a driver, mechanic, and later in facilities cleaning and maintaining the shelters. After retirement, he worked at Sam's Club as a door greeter.
Willie was a member of Second Baptist Church, Kansas City, MO. He was a faithful member in his membership, and he loved to worship and attend special events. He served in in the Banquet Management Ministry helping set up tables and chairs, and clean-up following events. He was also a member of the Ninety-Plus ministry, and always eager to help when needed.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife of 30 years, Blanche Sims; one son, Willie Davidson; three daughters, Pamela Davidson, Karla Settles, and LaTisha Thomas; 2 nieces, Willina Bluett and Ruby Marie Jones; 21 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren.
