Willie D. Right (AKA) Papa Doc, was born in Sumner, MS on March 1, 1932, to the union of James and Estella Wright.
At an early age, Willie accepted Christ at Fryson Baptist Church in Sumner, MS. Willie attended St. James Elementary School, also in Sumner, MS.
Willie met and married Katherine Adams in 1951, they left Sumner and moved to Kansas City, MO for a better life. To this union three sons were born, Stanley Adams Wright Sr., Edmund George Wright, and DeWayne Adams Wright Sr.
Willie was a hard worker during his life before his unfortunate tragedy. He worked for Pepsi, Royal Crown, and 7UP bottling Companies. He was employed as a machine operator for Pepsi in 1965 when he had his accident. He was disabled until his death.
Despite Willie’s physical condition, he had an unbelievable positive personality. He loved life and would share his life experiences with all who would have a conversation with him. He loved the Lord and his family. He was always in good spirits, never complaining even while in pain. His smile, his joking, and teasing would make you burst out in laughter. He was loved by many and will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Willie entered though the Pearly Gates on March 9, 2017, what a glorious day. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Estella Wright, son Otha Lee Austin, brothers Louis Wright, James Wright, and Cleotha Wright, grandsons Stanley Adams Wright Jr. and Rodney Austin.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 66 years Mrs. Katherine Wright, sons Stanley Adams Wright Sr., Edmund George Wright, DeWayne Adams Wright Sr., Jerome Dudley, Ricky A. Lee (all of Kansas City, MO), Melvin Brown of St. Louis, MO, daughter Bertha Ann Packnett of Kansas City, MO, and an angel daughter Savannah Pouncil, brothers J.B. Wright, Edward (Winona) Wright, sisters Louise Hill, Willie Mae Tinner, and Addie (Noble) Atkinson, grandchildren DeWayne Wright Jr., Dejuan Wright, Alonzo Wright, Marvin Dudley, Hershel Cooper, Anthony Austin, Justin Packnett, Antonio Dewey Wright, Barry Packnett Jr., Ricky A. Lee II, Lakeisha Wright, Ebony Price, Lashaunda Brown, Latoshia Packnett, Michelle Dudley, Megan Dudley, Melanie Dudley and Teadra Austin, God granddaughter LeDawn (AKA) LeLe Rozzelle, and a large host of nephews, nieces cousins and friends.
