Office Assistant

Primary Responsibilities

Provides customer service in all areas of helping client families following the loss of a loved one. Provides exemplary personalized and professional service.


Daily Operations

  • Answer phones and operate a switchboard
  • Route calls to appropriate staff
  • Answer general business inquiries
  • Greet visitors 
  • Ensure reception area is tidy
  • Coordinate mail flow in and out of office including collection and dissemination of parcels
  • Perform basic bookkeeping, filing, and clerical duties
  • Stay abreast of activities among all chapels
  • Death certificate operations
  • Support all staff with administrative and customer support tasks
  • Other duties as assigned


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Immediately greet persons entering establishment, determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations
  • Receive payment and record receipts for services
  • Transmit information or documents to customers, using computer, mail, or facsimile machine
  • Provide information about establishment, such as location, employees within the organization, or services provided
  • Other duties as assigned


Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Evening and weekend availability
  • A willingness to participate in community organizations
  • Maintain a safe work environment


Education and Skills

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to handle the pressure of daily deadlines
  • Good organizational, communication and customer service skills
  • Detail oriented and extremely conscientious
  • Work independently to make position related decisions in the best interest of the business


Physical Criteria

Stand, sit, walk, and bend for extended periods of time

The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly

The ability to lift more than 25 pounds
